Blog 18: Blogging

Now that I have been blogging for the past month, I have found that I really like it.  I don’t necessarily like that I have had to do five blogs a week, but it has been fun to put my thoughts in writing.  For example, I am not looking forward to this upcoming poetry blog because that is one style of writing that I am not gifted in.  I have also liked reading other peoples blogs.  I have found that it is a good way to get to know people and find out what is going on in their life and find out about things that they have gone through.  Some things I have read from other people’s blogs are things that I would never have believed about them and some things have made me realize that I can relate to them.  Some of my favorite blogs have been the ‘Self distruct’, ‘If I was brave’, and ‘Stress’ blogs.  These and a few other blogs have made me think about how I work and what processes I go through.  They have helped me to assess and examine myself and my actions.  It has helped me to think about what I have done in the past and focus on how I want to do them better in the future.  They have also helped me to learn how I can change the way that I act and think.  I never would have thought that these blogs would have helped me this much, but by stopping and taking the time to answer these questions about myself has been fun.  I probably won’t keep writing on this after I am through with this class, because I do not really want people reading all my thoughts, but I do enjoy writing about what has been going on in my life–so I will probably keep a journal.

Blog 17: “Sing, sing a song…

I was one of the people at the beginning of the month that said I was not very creative.  I have never been an artist or great musician. I did play the flute and piano for a few years, but nothing special.  I have always looked at my friends in our required art class in school and wished I had the natural talent they had.  One way that I am creative is in dance.  I love to dance and have done it since I was a child.  I was in ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop classes, but stopped when all my friends started playing sports at school and I wanted to also.  Soon, I forgot entirely about dance and spent all my time in sports like volleyball, basketball, and cheerleading and I had the time of my life!  I alway missed dancing though.  I finally found a way to get a little bit of my dancing fun back in my high school church choir.  We put on musical show performances all throughout the year to raise money for the mission trips we go on in the summer.  The dancing is what first enticed me to join the choir, but then I loved all the mission work we do too.  The dancing we do is not simple gospel dancing that you would think of a normal choir, but we do secular and hip hop moves that is really fun and allows me to get my ‘dance fix’ as you would call it, from time to time.  All of the costumes, practices, dead-lines, and long performance hours has been time consuming, but it has allowed me to express myself.

Blog 16: Stress relief

To tell you the truth, I stress myself out a lot, but I deal with the stress very well.  When I feel that I’m getting stressed and too overloaded with everything that is going on, I have to stop and pace myself.  I make a list of everything I need to get done and put the most important or the things that need to be done that day at the top.  Taking breaks is good and going for a walk or jog in-between each assignment or errand I get done helps to clear my mind.  My problem is that I can’t feel at rest until I have gotten everything done that needs to be done.  I do not like having things looming over my head.  My advice is do not put things off till the last minute because that will make you stress even more and most likely not do a good job at whatever it is because you are in a rush to get it done.  When everything is just overwhelming you need to stop and make a to do list for the day or week so that you can see everything in front of you and see how much fun time you can have.  After you get a few things done, give yourself a break and listen to some music, take a walk, go for a swim, read a book, go get some ice cream or something that will get your mind off of your to do list.  Then jump right back into your list until all your jobs are done.  By doing this you won’t forget what you have to do and you won’t be pressed for time.  Another great way that I like to relieve stress is to go to the beach, but that does not happen very often.
